Advent Mass and Christmas Meal

Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - 11:30

Dear Families,

Next Wednesday, December 6th, Holy Cross School staff and students will be attending Advent Mass at St. Mary's Parish - Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Immediately following Mass, we will be enjoying our annual Christmas meal all together at the church Parish Hall next door. I understand that our annual Christmas meal is a long-standing tradition here at Holy Cross, and one that our students always look forward to with great excitement!

We are happy to share that this year’s Christmas meal, in its entirety, has been generously donated!! A local restaurant owner and caterer, Mr. Danny McMahon, who is the owner of the Tartan Corner Fish and Chips Shop, has stepped up to not only donate some of the food items, but to also prepare the whole meal! In addition to Danny’s extremely generous contribution, we have had other community vendors donate food items for this meal, and we have also received some monetary donations from individuals who wish to remain anonymous. These donations will be used to purchase additional food items along with necessary supplies for the meal. Mr. McMahon will prepare all the food in his commercially licensed and approved kitchen, which will be served by Parent Council volunteers and staff.

Having a meal together to celebrate the holidays is a wonderful bonding opportunity and a rare chance for our students and staff to celebrate all together. It is vital that permission forms are received for all students to ensure that no one misses out. We ask that families please sign the permission form in SchoolCash Online before Monday, December 4th (at which time the option to sign online will no longer be available). If you are unable to access SchoolCash Online for any reason, please contact your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible to request a paper form.

We very much look forward to sharing in the joy of Advent and Christmas together. We feel so blessed and grateful for the kindness and love shown for our school community. The spirit of the holidays is alive and well!

Sincerely,

Mr. C. Assettino
Principal
